Bringing art to life in your community

Celebrating Diversity through Public Art

Call for Public Art and Placemaking Projects

Budget:      $2,000 – $10,000

Deadline:   July 15, 2022

The City of Burlington public art program invites artists, artist-led teams, community groups and organizations to submit their ideas to create art in public spaces celebrating Burlington’s diverse communities.  Proposals may include, but are not limited to murals, sound / light installations, artist designed seating, children/youth projects, temporary art projects, artist designed crosswalks, etc.  Projects that are interactive or participatory in nature are encouraged.  We are open to creative ideas that activate a community space!

Projects must be presented or installed within Burlington city limits between August and December 2022.  The projects may remain installed / displayed for a maximum of five (5) years (where appropriate).  Project locations must be approved by the City of Burlington and must take place on city-owned land or private property which is accessible to the public (where written permission has been given by the owner).

The public art program will support successful applicants in the creation of the artwork by providing resources and staff support through the planning, installation and execution of the project.  This can include connections to artists and fabricators, assistance with permits and permissions as well as general project support.
