Date: July 1, 2017 (Canada Day)
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Burlington Music Centre, 2311 New St.
The community is invited to the Burlington Music Centre on July 1 at 10 a.m. for the unveiling of Burlington’s Canada 150 Mosaic Mural, painted by residents of Burlington.
The theme for the mural was chosen by residents and Burlington Teen Tour Band was selected to celebrate its 70th anniversary. Earlier this spring, members of the community painted 400 tiles that have been combined to form the finished artwork.
The event will feature a special performance by Burlington Teen Tour Band, followed by greetings from Mayor Rick Goldring; Burlington MP Karina Gould, Minister of Democratic Institutions; Oakville North-Burlington MP Pam Damoff; Burlington MPP Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport and Ward 2 Councillor Marianne Meed Ward as the mural is unveiled. Refreshments will be provided and the first 100 families to arrive will receive a limited-edition Canada 150 Mosaic postcard, showcasing Burlington’s mural.
The Canada 150 Mosaic Mural is a national project created by artists Lewis Lavoie, Paul Lavoie and Phil Alain. The project brings 150 communities and thousands of participants together to create community murals in celebration of Canada’s unique culture and history.
All 150 community murals will be virtually displayed as a unified mosaic at canada150mosaic.com.
