The City of Burlington has begun construction on an exciting new project. “The Knot” (or Elgin Promenade) is the name of an urban pathway connecting the downtown to the Centennial Multi-Use Pathway. This multi-use pathway will service more than 10,000 people every year and provide public space for a wide range of leisure activities, community events and easy access to shops and restaurants. It will also ensure that public space is preserved and celebrated for years to come.
The design of the new park will be led by architect team (company TBD), in consultation with the City of Burlington’s Capital Works Department. To complement this team, the City of Burlington is seeking a professional artist, designer or artist-led team to collaborate on the project. In addition to attending project meetings, the selected artist will provide input into the overall design of the pathway with specific attention paid to core place-making elements.
