The mission of the City of Burlington’s Public Art Program is to enhance the quality of life in Burlington through the rich context of the arts. The program strives to bring artwork by both established and emerging artists to the city centre and the neighbourhoods throughout Burlington, Ontario. The Public Art Program provides cultural opportunity, guides the evolution of a vibrant artistic character for the City’s emerging public places, and ensures a visual legacy for all to enjoy.
Program Management
The Imperial Cotton Centre for the Arts (ICCA) manages the City of Burlington’s Public Art Program. Guided by the Public Art Policy, the ICCA works in cooperation with City of Burlington staff develop and implement the Public Art Master Plan. All public artworks accessioned by the Public Art Program are part of Burlington’s Public Art Inventory.

The mission of the ICCA is to make the.creation, exploration and self-presentation of artistic works affordable for artists in every discipline, and to act as a feeder space for the bourgeoning professional arts community. The ICCA sees its role as being a catalyst for creativity; not only in the arts but also in other areas of innovation where creativity is key.
The City of Burlington is commissioning a series of public art bike racks to be installed throughout the downtown core. Artists were invited to submit designs for decorative laser cut steel panels that will turn ordinary bike racks into works of art!
